The statue was blessed by Bishop Peter Comensoli, Episcopal Vicar for the Life, Family and Marriage Centre.
The Madonna and Child Memorial stands at the junction of Lawns 5, 6 and 7 a short distance from the Chapel of the Sacred Heart.

Tasmanija, Hobart vyskupija, Richmond home to Memorial of Mercy for unborn babies, behind St John’s Church. An initiative of the Catholic Women’s League Tasmania (CWL) the permanent memorial was blessed by Vicar General Fr Michael Tate on Saturday 3 July. Accompanying Fr Tate at the blessing was Richmond Parish Priest Father Terry Rush, Fr Leo Zenarosa and Fr Gerald Quinn.
